A Day in the LIfe of the Naffziger Family

I had the best time with Lindsay and her family. Documenting moments that are often taken for granted and forgotten. Moments that in time will be missed and cherished.  It was just a random day, nothing planned, nothing forced. These memories captured is my wish for all families to have at least once in their short time with their kids.

After sharing these photos with the family, the dad offered to write his perspective on his experience. Here is what he had to say…

“When my wife first mention of this project, I was confused and unclear of what it entailed.  She simply explained that ‘a photographer was going to follow us and document our day through pictures’.  Although I was reluctant and dreaded typical ‘family photo shoots’, Angela’s impressive and innovative approach intrigued me.
Angela followed our family from the start of the day until the end.  At first, her presence was obvious, but as my family continued through our day, her and her camera became unnoticeable.  Because of her ability to downplay her presence, I was almost startled when she concluded, ‘I have everything I need’ and made her way out of our home.
I forgot about the whole endeavor until my wife recently arranged for a viewing of the photographs.  We watched the presentation, now a media colleague of photographs set to music, at Angela’s home.  My wife cried.  My children smiled, and I, with the details of the photos, remembered the forgotten feelings of that particular day.
I can say without hesitation, I am not a fan of family photo days.  I am forced into clothes that I do not wear, taken to a location I have never been, and pose in ways I would never pose.
Angela’s method of family photos captured who we, as a family, really are.  She has managed to eliminate the frustrations of family photos while truly capturing the dynamics of us as individuals and as a family.”
